Anina Mbilinyi

Project architect and LEED Consultant for a 50,000-square-foot AB infill addition to Northwestern University’s Technological Institute. This Institute is the largest academic building in the world, housing multidisciplinary research of renowned scientists. The A-B Infill laboratory facilities are designed for adaptation to a wide range of uses, supporting multidisciplinary research as cutting-edge engineering intersects with biology, physics, mathematics, and chemistry. They share core spaces include an NMR facility housing nine magnets, a fabrication cleanroom, instrumentation suite for research in nanotechnology and chemistry, a robotics lab, and imaging suite that also engages in outreach activities. The building also encompasses a beautifully designed five-story atrium with a surprising light feature hosting a student lounge and events space.
